Odyssey of the Seas 8-nights Southern Caribbean Cruise Compass January 28, 2023 by Royal Caribbean Blog

But my cabin stewards have been great about bringing me the "next day" Compass each evening, and I appreciate that. Not true...on our last 5 RCI cruises this year we were able to get a paper Cruise Compass on day 1 at Guest Services and our cabin steward had one in our cabin everynight. Here are the full 7 days of Cruise Compass paper planners from my Western Caribbean + Perfect Day cruise roundtrip from Miami on Harmony of the Seas in April 2023. Hi when you scan the QR code, you will get a digital copy of the cruise compass that looks just like you took a picture of the paper copy.

Day 5 – Cozumel, Mexico

The Cruise Compass is Royal Caribbean's daily onboard newsletter, found on each ship. Every evening, passengers receive the following day's newsletter in their staterooms. The app does indeed include all the information that the cruise compass does, but the way it is presented is very different. To download a copy, just look for the large QR codes located at strategic points around the ship. You’ll also see them on the racks where you used to be able to pick spare copies of the cruise compass.

Services and WiFI on Vison of the Seas

Personally, I much prefer the layout of the cruise compass, as it has a very handy daily snapshot and tips and highlights for each day. However, Royal Caribbean is only now delivering paper copies on request. Instead, they now prefer you to download a digital copy of the cruise compass. It helps passengers make the most of their time on the ship by providing a detailed schedule of all of the daily events and makes it easy for everyone to plan their days at sea. The Cruise Compass keeps you in-the-know about everything there is to see and do both onboard and off. Think show times, restaurant open times, when and where bingo will be played, and what shops have sales.

Oasis of the Seas 7-night Western Caribbean and Perfect Day Cruise Compass - March 24, 2024

For years, the move to paperless daily newsletters has been discussed among cruise fans as an almost inevitability. Traditionally passengers receive a copy each evening in their stateroom that outlines the following day's events. Some guests are seeing a new way to get a copy of the daily guide to events on their Royal Caribbean cruise.

There is often another late-night performance, as well, such as an adult comedian, or the "Love and Marriage Game Show." Our first sea day was also our first formal night of the cruise (we had two on the seven-day sailing). You can download a digital copy of the Cruise Compass each day by scanning the “Gone Green” QR code you’ll find on a card in your stateroom.

It also provides details about the amazing ports you’ll visit and so much more. It’s easy to pack into your bag or pocket so that you don’t skip a beat! Plan your cruise your way and enjoy everything your ship has to offer. The Cruise Compass is placed in your stateroom each evening for the following day.

How Late Will a Cruise Ship Wait for You? Here's What a Captain Says..

The Teen planner is a bit more similar to the Cruise Compass in structure, with a chronological breakdown of events and activities that are just for teenagers. Just like the Cruise Compass, Adventure Ocean publishes a Kids Daily Planner for children 3-11 years old. It breaks down the activities lined up for the day while the kids are enrolled in Adventure Ocean. If you read only one page of the Cruise Compass, make sure it is this one because it lists all of the day's activities.

Head to the adult-only Solarium, where it's a whole lot quieter. The daily schedule usually begins with a variety of fitness and recreation activities in the morning, such as water aerobics or morning stretch, and a poolside movie. Later in the morning and into the afternoon, the cruise director's crew hosts several line dance classes, either poolside or in the Centrum. These Vision of the Seas activities are particularly popular with younger passengers and families.

It points out the cool stuff on different ships, like Allure of the Seas, Anthem of the Seas, and Wonder of the Seas. With the Compass in hand, you’re all set to have the best time, making every moment count. Royal Caribbean might stop making the Cruise Compass one day, but it seems like they know the app isn’t quite there yet. The Cruise Compass is easier to glance through, with a nice daily overview and tips. I’ve been on plenty of Royal Caribbean cruises, learning the ins and outs. By reading an old Cruise Compass, you can prepare yourself for activities and events that you might want to participate in, such as themed dance parties, sporting events and anything inbetween.

In the past, Royal Caribbean provided a paper copy of the Cruise Compass. This paper version would be delivered each evening to passengers’ staterooms, outlining the following day’s events. This is the ship’s daily newsletter and is a guide to all the onboard activities, entertainment, and dining options, as well as any important announcements. There is a new copy every day that contains times and locations for activities, special events, show times and more.

Note that Royal Caribbean ships ask cruisers to sign out pool towels using their SeaPass card to avoid lost or stolen towels. There is only one station on Vision of the Seas, located at the main pool area, which can be a little inconvenient if you're lounging at the Solarium. Around lunchtime on sea days, there is usually a poolside event. When there's not an event going on, you can usually hear live music throughout the afternoon.

Depending on the ship, there are also other ways to see activities, such as on a designated channel on the in-room television and/or via the wayfinders in the hallways. For years, the printed Cruise Compass was the only option, but Royal Caribbean's app has also offered a list of activities. The option to download a copy of the printed Cruise Compass is a new way to learn about what's happening onboard the ship.

Today,  I met the Guest Services Manager in the DL and happen to mention a PDF download is something many passengers would want if the paper Cruise Compass is going bye, bye. If you like having a printed Cruise Compass each day, be sure to ask your stateroom steward on embarkation day to make sure you receive a copy in your room each evening. Or, you can download a digital copy of the Cruise Compass each day by scanning the “Gone Green” QR code you’ll find on a card in your stateroom. Experience the rich history and dynamic culture of Boston with our top list of shore excursions. Our expertly curated guide features the essential attractions and hidden gems of this iconic American city, making your cruise stopover in Boston an unforgettable experience.

This isn’t an actual example – it’s just a picture to illustrate what the cruise compass looks like for Mobile users as the PDF’s don’t display on mobile. If you’re someone who prefers a physical copy, just let your Cabin Steward know on the first day. They can arrange to have a paper copy delivered to your room daily. To find the digital Cruise Compass, scan the QR codes placed around the ship, like near the elevators and where paper copies were once available. It also has times for when places open, info on port visits, and any changes to plans. The Cruise Compass is key to making the most of your cruise, keeping you informed and ready for the day.
